I knew that society, as a whole, is very shallow and vapid when it comes to appearance, but I didn't think it would be quite as stupid as strip away a teenager's beauty pageant crown because she is no longer blond. I mean, I get that as a winner you are required and obligated to perform certain duties and make appearances at places over the course of your reign - my little sisters participated in pageants throughout their primary years so I know how the system works. But to admonish a young woman for daring to change her hair color and effectively telling them that they 'would not go far in this world ' because of it...well. I 'd be thinking the same thing Olivia O'Neil thought: That maybe pageant life wasn't for me. (read more about it)

I haven't heard anything back from the castielfest Mod's about my situation so I'm gonna go ahead and assume that I'm not going to hear anything before the end of positing and that this year's Cas Fest is a flop for me.

It's entirely my fault too. My laptop exploded and took all my work, including several WIPs and one shots, with it. I was almost finished with it and was poised to send it off to the BETA tonight for a quick crunch and post it before the cut off date. Apparently that's not going to happen.

I want to apologize to everyone over at castielfest for this failing. And, I would make specific apologies to my intended recipient but, unfortunately, I'm a goldfish and the name escapes me - I listed it at the top of my fic and just started writing, figuring I'd have plenty of time memorizing it after I finished the fic itself and typed up my acknowledgments and notes. THANK YOU Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker!!

Judge Walker ruled that the rights of a gay couple had been violated when Prop. 8 was passed. It violated more than just this couple's rights, but thanks to this determined couple, gay and lesbian rights are being upheld! Read more about it.

It's not over yet, my friends, but we're one step closer to equality for all the masses.

If you could become one person--alive,dead or fictional--for one month, who would it be, and why?

I would love to be Jim Qwilleran. I'd own the smartest cat in the world, Koko (psychic crime solver extrodinaire), the sweetest little kitty Yum Yum, have the love of the local librarian Polly Duncan, and live in the best little town in the world! He's also got a wit on him that makes me drool.

Why, yes. I am a little in love with this fictional man. D:
